Dear Men and Women of the Community.
I bring you news of a new record by myself, Dan Michaelson. Amongst the wails and cry’s of “Please God, No.. not again” I hope to hear the faint echo of a few high fives in the back row from those attuned to my offerings. I’m an optimist, you know that.
The record in question is called *Sudden Fiction*.
You can pre order the CD or the very limited edition 12 inch vinyl version
here:

But what can I tell you about *Sudden Fiction*?
I spent the tail end of last year and the start of this year in a small town in Texas called Marfa. I ate burritos and I drank beer. I learnt about Donald Judd, I read short stories from the Flash Fiction movement. I stared into the vast nothingness and shouted *“Has anyone seen my facebook page?”*
It’s
here , you can hear a couple of the new tracks or press on the image below:
[image 1 200x200] I was hoping for something more profound but you have to go with what comes out...
I came home and started a record that I hope goes some way towards describing the feeling I had there. Not lyrically, but in a sense of time and place*.
The record is made up of guitar, pedal steel, cello and piano… Also I sing on it, all over it in fact. But that’s it. Sparse is a word that might crop up.
*Please understand that although there are disco’s in Texas, there is no disco on this record.
The first 100 CDs pre ordered will arrive in a limited edition wrapping paper (I pretty much thought that up all on my own) and the vinyl is limited to 100 copies with two separate artwork editions of 50 each. All stickered, screen printed and numbered. Please note that the records are the same, the artwork is an edition.
So that’s today’s news… you probably thought I’d just been working on my tan all this time but this record is unquestionable proof that I spend less than 75% of my time getting crispy.
I’ve enjoyed our moment here.
Over to you.
Dan Michaelson.
